Christening preparations

After a strenuous selection process Ellie´s prospective god parents are ready to go. The four lucky winners will take up their duties on 6th May..... it´s a heavy responsibility but we´ve got every faith that Kate, Kristin, Kim and Rita will be up to the job :-)

Manser invasion

The Mansers arrived on Saturday 11th Feb.... for 3 and a half days of family bonding. We sledged, we drank hot chocolate, we built sledging tracks in the garden.... and we all seemed to argue over who got the most time with Ellie. It appeared that Auntie Helen was universally acknowledged as the "Ellie hogger". This was something to do with the fact that she got up much earlier than the others.... so they didn´t have much to complain aboutas far as I could see!!

Was lovely to see them all.... and considering we have 2 bedrooms.... and there were 9 inhabitants.... everyone mucked in a treat....

End of January

We haven´t exactly been using up our sleep quota in Egnehjemveien. Hopefully it will improve soon. There don´t seem to be have been many normal weeks since Ellie was born.... but that´s only what we expect. Visitors, illness, snow.... I´m sure we´ll fall in to a routine soon.

Daddy´s beard is growing ever longer and Milly is using it to brush her hair...

Ellie is now much more aware of what´s going on around her. She will laugh or smile if you pull the right funny face.....

Milly hopes against hope that the summer is coming soon.....

Flu week

Week 3 was supposed to be the 1st one at home alone with mamma..... as it turned out, the house was full. First Milly was sick with the flu so bestemor came to help.... then when she left daddy and Milly were both home with the flu. It won´t go down as the happiest weeks of 2012..... but fortunately week 4 has been much better. Milly´s fit again.... back at barnehage..... Ellie´s generally easy to live with..... so all is well here (not so in Hamar.... we infected Dagrun and Kåre with our flu.... sorry :-( )

First bath time

Ellie took her first dip tonight. No complaints, in fact she seemed to enjoy it. Milly wanted to get in the baby bath too. She was very excited to see her sister in the water and was delighted to get on the changing mats and discuss how it went.....

Inaccessible

The last few days have been something of a challenge when it comes to getting in and out of the house. As you can see from the picture below..... the road has actually disappeared. It was quite a jump down from the bottom step.... almost a parachute jump for Milly... that combined with snow.... it was "joy" getting Milly to kindergarten this week.

Turid and Lars managed to get in a visit in before our "friendly" road workers ripped away the access to our house. Hopefully we will get a road back eventually.

One week...

So here we are at the 1 week mark. Milly stayed at home yesterday... so it was all 4 of us at home for the day. The day didn´t pass without it´s controversial moments. When Milly spotted that the bugaboo had been converted back to a pram for a baby she wasn´t altogether impressed and made that clear in no uncertain terms. Sleeping has been a bit up and down.... some good nights some not so good. We had Kim and Kristin visit on Wednesday.... and Turid and Lars today. Apart from that we´ve been trying to sort out the things which we hadn´t prepared before Ellie arrived.... which is pretty much everything!! Snowed last night. Milly and I popped up to the play park..... and spent most of the time trying not to fall over.....

Eyes open

Things have been going fine so far.... Ellie is feeding well, filling her nappies often, exercising her lungs.... but not too often, and most important of all.... sleeping without too many problems. From time to time she has to put up with noisy big sister whilst she tries to have a kip.... but it doesn´t seem to bother her too much.

Ellie

... Now we´re all back at home. Sunday night Marit and Ellie were at the hotel.... Milly and I were at home. After a visit from the doctor and a blood test, Ellie took her 1st trip in the car.... and by 3.30 we were all back at home. Milly has been a top big sister so far.... obviously Ellie is a little bit boring at this stage.... but give it a few months and I´m sure they´ll be arguing over the lego!!.... A word on the name.... we just like it.... it doesn´t come from anywhere in particular.... and it was on the list of potential names last time...

Even when you´ve just had a baby, it´s important you don´t lose contact with your i-phone....

What a new year´s eve!!

Little Miss Impatient wouldn´t wait for 2012. At 4 am she broke through and flooded the bedroom.... 5 and a half painful hours later she was out. It was almost as different as you could get from Milly´s birth. Hopefully will be back with more tomorrow when everyone is back home.
